If the tape you are capturing from has no timcode, FCP will not be able to break or separate the clip where there were starts and stops. all the separate clips are now just placed in the right spots and synced up, now you just make the multiclip and edit. If you capture these 2 tapes as 2 big files (one 10 and the other 15 minutes), there would be no way to sync them up.Ĭertain portions of the file would need to me 'stretched' (make the file longer or shorter) to make them sync in one spot, while syncing also in other spots.īut if those same tapes were captured with a 'make new clip on timecode break' setting in FCP, now the clips do not need to be 'stretched' to sync. The first tape runs for 10 minutes and the second one runs for 15 minutes. So for example you have 2 tapes, both of them are different angels and both of them start and stop at different points. If clips are not cut where there is a start and stop point on the file (or tape), pluraleyes will not work.

I made the same mistake as well.įor me, yes, it works as stated. Pluraleyes will not 'cut' the clip for you, you need to do this. If there is no cut at a timecode break, it is impossible to sync it up to another angle. It sounds like this is the step you missed. Or, when capturing use the 'make new clip on TC break' setting in FCP. So use either a scene detection software to find these starts and stops, or timecode breaks, or scenes (what ever you want to call that) and place a razor cut at that those points. these cuts go where the scene changes (or better said where there is a timecode break). So I needed to have the big file 'cut' up as well. in my example above, I had just one big file.
By this i mean look on track 3 and see there are several clips on that track. Notice in there example that the clips on the timeline are already separate. On the link i give above, () the only video you really need to watch is the one called 'Tips for truly useful multiclips'
